Snuff Said

Finished up Chuck Palahniuk's latest book Snuff. It was very enjoyable overall. Not quite as weird as the last one of his that I read, Rant. By not as weird I mean no time-traveling incest or booger-marks the spot treasure hunts. Usually his books start out weird, then in the last quarter or so, they multiply the weirdness. This one was the same consistency throughout. I mostly read it nonstop, back to front. I guess that is pretty much the highest compliment that you can pay a popular fiction novel. I mean that in the best way possible. I will continue to read all of Chuck's books. I heard somewhere that Choke is being made into a film. Yeah, that's right Chuck, you are nothing unless Hollywood says you are. ;-)

Coffee Music

I was just sitting at my local coffee shop when I heard a song that I kinda liked on the sound system. Unfortunately there was no way for me to tell who the artist was. It would be nice if they had a large screen or something that would constantly show that information.

Diary of the Dead

Finished watching George Romero's Diary of the Dead. I should have known better than to watch this movie after watching Land of the Dead a few years back. Diary of the Dead was awful. It didn't work as horror, social satire, or comedy. I'm sick of Romero's boring, slow-moving zombies and his heavy-handed attempts at satire. Do we need him anymore? No, get rid of him. Some movie probably didn't get made because they decided to make this film instead.

Karl Pilkington Poster Campaign Over

Well, apparently the Karl Pilkington Poster Campaign is over. I will miss seeing all the posters of his little round manky twat head posted all over the world. I did just finish reading Karl's book, Happyslapped by a Jellyfish. Even though I had heard almost all of the stories before on Ricky Gervais' old radio show and podcasts, I laughed out loud at almost every one of them. Karl now says that there will be no more podcasts. At least I can still go on Youtube and listen to all of his greatest hits, such as the Educating Karl on Rasputin. "Is he the one that lived under the bridge?" Also: Karl-"He was a monk." Ricky- "Mad?" Karl-"Hmmmmm...."

Karl Pilkington Update

Ricky Gervais says on his Karl Pilkington blog that Karl is thinking about doing a special one of show as part of a special event. My heart fills with joy. I'm getting sick of watching his youtube clips over and over again, so I can't wait for anything new from the world of Karl and his little round head.

Battlestar Galactica

I'm not sure why, but Battlestar Galactica is really is such a great show to watch when you have been drinking. Maybe it has just the right mix of action, sex, political intrigue, and long-arc story lines. Deadwood was always the same way for me. I would love to do some kind of a study with fMRI machines or whatever where they could watch people's brains while they were sober, then drunk as they were watching various TV shows and see what the changes are. Conversely, I like watching The Riches sober, but not drunk. Maybe it is Eddie Izzard's whiny voice when he tries, and doesn't quite succeed at doing an American accent.
